3. Why and how we use information

We process personal information only where we have a lawful justification, including consent, steps taken at your request before entering a contract, performance of a contract, compliance with law, or our legitimate business interests where these do not override your rights.

  • Responding to enquiries and arranging consultations.
  • Designing, quoting, installing, financing, monitoring, maintaining and supporting energy solutions.
  • Managing customer, supplier, contractor and professional relationships.
  • Administering payments, warranties, service requests and legal obligations.

If information is required for a contract or legal obligation and you do not provide it, we may be unable to supply the requested service.

4. Cookies and online services

This site uses essential browser storage to remember theme and privacy preferences. Optional Microsoft Bookings content is embedded only if you accept optional cookies. At the effective date, INFOLED does not use advertising cookies or website analytics cookies. See the Cookie Policy for the current list and preference controls.

Our pages obtain fonts from Google Fonts and interface code from Tailwind's content delivery network. Those providers may receive routine technical request information such as your IP address and browser details when your browser requests those files.

5. Sharing and cross-border processing

We do not sell personal information. We may share only what is reasonably necessary with:

  • hosting, cloud, email, booking, IT, security and business-system providers;
  • installers, subcontractors, engineers, equipment manufacturers, distributors, warranty providers and project partners;
  • banks, funders, insurers, auditors, accountants, attorneys and other professional advisers;
  • regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies or public authorities where required or permitted by law;
  • a purchaser or successor in a legitimate corporate transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Some service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, INFOLED will take reasonably practicable steps to ensure the recipient is subject to a law, agreement or binding corporate rules that provide an adequate level of protection, or that another lawful basis for the transfer applies.

6. Retention and security

We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purpose collected, to meet contractual and legal recordkeeping duties, to resolve disputes, or to enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by record type. When information is no longer required, we delete, destroy or de-identify it where reasonably practicable.

We use reasonable organisational and technical safeguards designed to protect information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, interference, alteration or destruction. No website, transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. If a security compromise creates a legal notification duty, INFOLED will notify the Information Regulator and affected data subjects as required.

7. Your rights

Subject to POPIA and PAIA, you may:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it;
  • request correction, updating, deletion or destruction of inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, outdated, incomplete, misleading or unlawfully obtained information;
  • object on reasonable grounds to certain processing, and object at any time to direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, without affecting earlier lawful processing;
  • ask about safeguards used for certain cross-border transfers; and
  • complain to INFOLED or the Information Regulator.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Access requests may follow the process described on our PAIA Information page. Legal exceptions may limit some rights.

A parent or competent person who believes a child has submitted information may contact us to request its removal.
